Welcome to the South Australian Revolver and Pistol Association Inc. (SARPA)

Incorporated in September 1949, SARPA is the state’s peak body for the sport of target pistol shooting responsible for the growth and development of the safe and challenging sport of Pistol Shooting. We are a member of the national body Pistol Australia (PA) which provides our members with direct access to 23 different matches, including categories for athletes with a disability, that are all graded to suit members of all skill levels from club to the elite. Our affiliation with Shooting Australia provides members with the pathway to many international competitions and is the only shooting body that allows members to be selected for Commonwealth and Olympic Games representation.

As the sport’s peak body, SARPA provides leadership to over 45 clubs with a total membership of over 1,400 members throughout the state and is administered by the SARPA Executive Committee consisting of eight annually elected members, plus the Directors of the Coaching and Referee Councils, who conduct the everyday business of the sport with the assistance of an Office Administrator.

OUR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

(a)     To promote and educate members in the safe and competent handling of all types of legal firearms and participate in the Association’s activities in a controlled and competitive environment on Affiliated Club Ranges.

(b)     To promote, control and foster competitive and social target pistol shooting among its members and members of the community covering local club level to national and international competition.

(c)     To provide coaching and training to improve skills or to become an official of target pistol shooting at no cost.

(d)     To promote the correct implementation of the ISSF, Pistol Australia and all relevant competition rules for target pistol shooting matches.

(e)     To actively promote a positive public attitude towards the responsible ownership and storage of all types of legal firearms.
